No-Cost Upgrade for New Loss of Mains Protection Regulations

With the clock ticking on the introduction of compulsory regulations that ensure that distributed generation plant commissioned before February 2018 complies with new Loss of Mains (LOM) protection standards, Flexible energy generation specialist Ylem Energy has launched a scheme where the work required can be carried out by its engineers at no cost to the owner of the generation system - subject to meeting National Grid ESO criteria.

Ylem Energy Appoints Projects Director

Flexible energy generation specialist, Ylem Energy Ltd, has appointed Neil Brooks – a leading energy industry project management specialist – to oversee the construction of its rapidly-expanding portfolio of generation and storage projects. Having formerly held senior positions with Forsa Energy and UK Power Reserve, Neil Brooks will take on the role of Ylem Energy’s projects director, based from the company’s Salford headquarters.

Deal to Help TPIs Lower Client Costs

Ylem Energy Ltd – one of the UK’s leading specialist flexible energy generation providers – has launched a new deal that will enable third-party intermediaries (TPIs) to help reduce their business energy clients’ electricity bills by as much as 30-per-cent per annum whilst earning them commission at no cost to their customer.

Centred around Ylem Energy’s ability to implement its asset-based, behind-the-meter optimisation technologies such as generation, battery storage and controls, the deal enables industrial and commercial energy users to reduce their energy expenditure and boost their sites’ resilience without the need for any capital investment on their part.

For making an introduction to Ylem Energy’s deal – known as the Dynamic Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) - the broker will not only benefit from receiving a competitive commission from Ylem Energy, but they will also extend their relationship with their client who will be saving significant sums of money for the entire duration of the ten-year agreement.

Ylem Energy Brings 27 MW of Flexible Generation Online

Flexible generation specialists, Ylem Energy Ltd, has brought two, natural-gas-fuelled flexible generation systems online that are providing a combined 26.6MW of capacity for balancing the national grid and enable further expansion of renewable generation.

Completed during the challenging conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ylem Energy quickly introduced enhanced health and safety procedures in order to keep its team safe whilst enabling this vital system to come online and contribute towards bolstering the UK’s electricity network.

Owned and operated by Ylem Energy, the systems can be quickly called upon by the grid to help top up the generation capacity at times of system stress or low renewable output. This allows for the continued expansion of renewable generation, whilst maintaining the UK’s security of supply through participating in schemes such as the UK Capacity Market.

New 6.6 MW Flexible Generation Plant Online

Following its recent completion of a 20MWe flexible generation plant in Trafford, Greater Manchester – Salford-based Ylem Energy Ltd, has confirmed that a further 6.6MWe system has commenced operation at an industrial site on the outskirts of Skelmerdale, Lancashire.

Located at the Blaguegate Works on the site of a former colliery, the facility comprises of six natural-gas-fuelled generators that can produce a combined output of 6.6MWe. This fast-responding flexible power is essential to help balance the national grid during times of peak demand, especially when the output from fluctuating renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power is low.
