Background

At a residential tower-block development in central London, YLEM Energy was able to demonstrate its O&M expertise for Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). SSE awarded YLEM Energy the contract to provide ongoing support for two gas engines in order to meet the service levels required.

Challenge

SSE required an experienced O&M with engineers available 24/7.

At the site, SSE’s Distributed Energy team considered options for ongoing preventative and planned maintenance. YLEM Energy was contracted to provide ongoing maintenance to the equipment which delivers heat to residents in the development.

Influenced by YLEM having over 30 years experience within the energy sector, SSE chose to partner with YLEM Energy for O&M support.

YLEM Energy worked over a few weeks to understand the needs of SSE at the housing development to provide regular support to the CHP units and develop a tailored repair and maintenance plan for the site. In the interim, YLEM Energy implemented a short-term remote support agreement to make sure that no time was lost in getting the units back on. Moving forward, pre-planned scheduled work is well communicated to ensure that any downtime to the heating is minimised for residents.

Result

YLEM Energy secured a contract with SSE for an initial two-year period with an option to continue to support the on-site generation plant in the future. The bespoke O&M solution that is being provided will ensure the engine support moving forward is at the levels required which will ensure the CHP units will have minimum downtime.
