Background
Terra Firma Energy has a large portfolio of energy generation projects but currently don’t have the resource to maintain their newest addition which is a 20MW gas peaker.
Challenge
Terra Firma required an experienced O&M provider in short notice.
Terra Firma Energy recently installed ten Cummins HSK78 gensets with a combined power output of 20MWe at its peaking site in Merseyside. However, neither Terra Firma, nor Cummins UK had the resource to manage and maintain the gas engines on site.
Solution
Influenced by YLEM Energy having its own peaking portfolio of over 135MWe, Terra Firma chose to partner with YLEM Energy for O&M support.
Tapping into YLEM’s experience maintaining generators and sharing knowledge helps to keep their own fleet available and operating effectively. Over the initial few weeks, YLEM’s field engineers spent time on site working closely with Terra Firma to fully understand the scope of work required, including ensuring the remote communications package was installed and working correctly.
Having YLEM Energy on board as their O&M partner gives Terra Firma, and their funders, the peace of mind that the plant will be available to operate at its optimum.
With expertise built on operating its own plant, including Cummins HSK78 gensets, YLEM Energy were able to demonstrate real-world experience to Terra Firma’s technical personnel which gained immediate credibility.
