YLEM Energy appoints Head of Battery Energy Storage System

YLEM Energy is pleased to announce that Sarah Lightfoot has been promoted to Head of Development and we have also appointed Daniel Moore to Head of Battery Energy Storage Systems. The appointments reflect our accelerated growth in battery energy storage system (BESS) projects and the company’s growth ambitions over the coming years.

In their new roles, Sarah will spearhead YLEM Energy’s BESS projects across the UK and ensure a consistent pipeline of new development opportunities, while Daniel will work on the efficient delivery of projects and the introduction of BESS analytics.

Sarah Lightfoot

Sarah joined YLEM Energy in 2023 as Development Manager, and during that time was responsible for originating over 1000MW of battery energy storage projects, with planning submitted or being prepared for more than 500MW projects.

Before joining YLEM Energy, Sarah was a Graduate Grid Connections Consultant at energy consultancy TNEI Group, where she gained extensive knowledge and experience of grid connections. In this role, she was responsible for providing technical advice and advising clients on a number of projects at different stages of their lifecycle.

Commenting on her promotion, Sarah said: “It’s an extremely exciting time to be working in the renewable energy industry, and I’m delighted to be leading YLEM Energy’s work in the battery energy and storage space.”

“With a pipeline of over 1000MW, our work in this area is growing rapidly and we’re at the forefront of the UK’s pursuit of Net Zero.”

Daniel Moore

Daniel joined YLEM Energy from Gore Street Capital, the UK’s first London Stock Exchange listed energy storage fund, where he was an Asset Manager. Daniel has expertise in project delivery, and asset KPI reporting to ensure efficient delivery, he will provide data-driven insights to grow YLEM’s BESS portfolio.

On top of his asset management expertise, Daniel offers a wealth of experience in BESS project management. He previously worked for Infinis and Off Grid Energy, where he gained front-line resource management experience in the energy sector and successfully optimised various processes.

Commenting on his appointment, Daniel said: “I am excited to bring in my experience to support YLEM Energy’s rapid expansion into the BESS sector. I look forward to managing our current capacity and ensuring that the projects we’ve got in the pipeline are implemented efficiently.”

YLEM Energy has recently submitted two planning applications for battery energy and storage projects in Scotland with a combined 84MW of renewable energy storage.
